Preparatory class for the restorer entrance exams

The Ecole du Louvre’s preparatory class for the restorer exams is a training course offered in partnership with the department of art history and archaeology of the Paris Nanterre University, the Rodin museum, with the participation of the Centre de Restauration et de Recherche des Musées de France and the Ateliers du Carrousel.

This course, offered since the start of the 2014 school year, brings together the department of art history and archaeology of Paris Nanterre University, the Ecole du Louvre and the Rodin Museum, with the participation of the Restoration and Centre de Restauration et de Recherche des Musées de France (C2RMF) and the Ateliers du Carrousel.

This course offers extensive preparation for the entrance exams for restorer schools (Institut national du Patrimoine, École des restaurateurs de Tours, Master Conservation-Restauration des biens culturels de l'Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, École nationale supérieure des arts visuels La Cambre de Bruxelles…). These competitions are open to students who have studied the following specialist subjects:

• graphic arts and books,
• fire arts,
• textile arts,
• furniture,
• painting,
• photography,
• sculpture.

This course is open to students who obtained a Licence 2 in art history or a validated second year of the first cycle of the Ecole du Louvre. Students who already have a general Licence 3 or a higher diploma can apply under certain conditions.

After a selection according to the student’s education history, admission is based on an interview and verification of the level of practical skills.
