A school for all: health, disabilities, CROUS, social security
Introduction
Students at the Ecole du Louvre benefit from social security coverage, have access to the student health service, and are eligible for numerous services set up by the CROUS, an organisation which provides students with services such as scholarships, accommodation and canteens. Furthermore, the entire architectural project was designed according to the accessibility standards in force for people with reduced mobility. All rooms are equipped with hearing loops.
A team called Relais scolarite et handicap ensures the reception and continued support of students with disabilities – permanent or temporary (fracture, serious illness, etc.). They coordinate all the actions put in place (tutorship, support courses, note-taking, adaptation of documents, accessibility of premises, exams, 30% additional time during exams, etc.) in collaboration with the various departments of the school and the school’s preventive health service.

Each student with a disability can benefit from special arrangements for exams after consulting with an approved doctor.
Steps to take:
Students must make an appointment with an approved doctor and provide them with all the necessary medical information.
- Known and permanent disability: the process is carried out upon registration at the Ecole du Louvre
- Temporary disability: the process is carried out as quickly as possible
In all cases, the education service decides on the arrangements to be granted, in light of the doctor's opinion, and notifies the student and the person in charge of the Relais scolarite et handicap of its decision.

The role of the Student Health Service (SSE) is to organise the prevention of health problems likely to hinder the education of students. Students must complete at least one preventive examination during the first three years of study in higher education. Students enrolled in the first year of first-cycle studies at the Ecole du Louvre are informed of how to make an appointment via Doctolib for a medical examination (eye test, hearing test, health interview, etc.).
Any Ecole du Louvre student, whatever their year of study, can be seen, at their request, by a social worker or a psychologist.

The Crous makes several services available to Ecole du Louvre students:
- scholarships based on social criteria,
- accommodation in university residences,
- access to university canteens,
- access to socio-cultural services (social service, shows, leisure, etc.).
A scholarship is awarded to students’ families according to criteria of household income, its composition, and the geographical distance between the home and school.
The amounts vary according to 8 levels (from 0 to 7), between €108 and €596 per month (in 2022-2023).
The file you submit to get a scholarship also allows you to request student accommodation. Granted as a priority to scholarship students, these accommodations are close to schools and usually have a moderate rent. Students between 18 and 30 years old can also request a public deposit to support their application as a tenant and promote their access to a rental property.
The aim of this aid is to support students with their monthly expenses: rent, home insurance, energy bills, food, mutual insurance contributions, etc. It should be remembered that membership in a student health insurance company has not been compulsory since 2019, but remains recommended in order to have full reimbursement of health costs.
The CVEC is a contribution through which student projects are financed in the fields of health, sport and culture... as long as they are aimed at improving student life.
The amount is €100 per year and students must pay it online on the website MesServices.Etudiants.gouv.fr. The CVEC only needs to be paid once in the event of multiple registrations.
Exempt: higher education scholarship holders, refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection and asylum seekers benefiting from the right to remain in the territory.
The certificate of payment by payment or by exemption from the CVEC is an essential supporting document to be provided during the administrative registration of the student.
- Student from the EU or EEA:
Your EHIC card (European health insurance card) allows you to benefit from French social security without any formalities.
- Foreign student (non-EU) in 2023-2024 (covered by student social security and continuing their studies in 2023-2024):
The international student remains affiliated to the same student social security centre as in 2022-2023 until August 31, 2024.
No affiliation process is necessary.

- New international student (first registration in higher education between September 1, 2023 and August 31, 2024):
Registration with the Caisse primaire d’assurance maladie (health insurance fund) of your place of residence.

A helpline by and for students
The Nightline Paris association offers a support service run by student volunteers who answer calls and live chats at night from 9pm to 2.30am. The service is open to all students from Paris, regardless of their field of study. Any subject can be discussed freely: loneliness, study-related stress, relationship problems, anxiety linked to the current health context, or simply your latest discovery on Netflix.
Volunteers trained to listen to you
Volunteers receive listening training provided by other experienced volunteers, which allows them to put aside their judgment, in accordance with the principles of other listening lines in France and around the world. Volunteers are then monitored and supported throughout their volunteering by professionals, in particular psychologists with support groups and training.

As a student, know that you have the right to access many services without paying upfront. To do this, it's very simple, all you have to do is go to Nightline’s website and enter your studying or living location in order to find support close to you.
