Preparatory class for the restorer entrance exams

The École du Louvre offers a preparatory class for competitive examinations to become a restorer (Institut national du Patrimoine, École des restaurateurs de Tours, Master Conservation-Restoration des biens culturels de l'Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, École nationale supérieure des arts visuels La Cambre de Bruxelles...).

Introduction

La classe préparatoire aux concours de restaurateur de l'École du Louvre is a course offered in partnership with the Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of Paris Nanterre, the Rodin Museum, with the participation of the Centre de Restauration et de Recherche des Musées de France and Ateliers du Carrousel.

Presentation

This course, offered since the start of the 2014 academic year, combines the Department of Art History and Archaeology at Paris Nanterre University, the École du Louvre and the Rodin Museum, with the participation of the Centre de Restauration et de Recherche des Musées de France (C2RMF) and Ateliers du Carrousel.

This course offers extensive preparation for competitive examinations at restorer schools (Institut national du Patrimoine, École des Restaurateurs de Tours, Master Conservation - Restauration des biens culturels de Paris 1, école nationale supérieure des arts visuels La Cambre de Bruxelles...). These competitions are open to the following specialties:

  • graphic and book arts,
  • fire arts,
  • textile arts,
  • furniture,
  • painting,
  • photography,
  • sculpture.

Selection criteria

This course is open to holders of a Licence 2 in art history or a validated second year of the first cycle at the École du Louvre. Students already holding a general Licence 3 or higher diploma may conditionally apply.

After selection on the basis of a portfolio, admission is by interview and verification of practical skills.
