La cafétéria de l'École du Louvre

The cafeteria

The École du Louvre has a cafeteria for its students and researchers, which has benefited from exceptional sponsorship from Majid Boustany.

Presentation

A community of students, auditors, teachers and researchers can't exist without informal gatherings, and there's no better place for that than a cafeteria! Ours is very busy and much appreciated, but we felt that its layout could be improved.

Certainly, for reasons of space, we'll never transform it into a true catering space, but the aim is to make it an original "third place", open to many alternative exchanges and uses.

Exceptional patronage

The cafeteria has benefited from the same exceptional patronage as the library, from Majid Boustany, president of the Francis Bacon MB Art Foundation.

On the programmatic level, the cafeteria is enlarged and widely addressed to users, through the implementation of a staircase-stage on the great hall.

The cafeteria, constantly saturated during class periods, is extended by taking advantage of the addition of an office, and proposes a new aesthetic in connection with the library's interventions.

The project ambitions the implementation of custom-made furniture throughout the library and cafeteria. Made of wood, these devices are intended to be as close as possible to the uses.

This architectural project was led by Heleen Hart.
